Even if it's a nice meal or takeaway at home I think it would be nice to make the effort.
But TBH, I must say I'm really not bothered about valentines day this year, I've already bought DH's card and got him a little something but that will be about it.

valentines is hugely overrated. we don't do it, ever. I would much rather my dh bought me flowers/took me out for dinner because he wants to, rather than because a certain date in the calendar says he should.

tasjaSAmuminUK · 31/01/2008 11:50

TBH, don't think I will do anything! I always make a card or buy one. I also get a card. I Always make nice dinner. DH gets home, we eat, sit and watch TV - as we do every night.

so this year doing nothing

We always do something. I usually cook as I can't stand the set menus restaurants introduce for it. This year, DP will be away working, so I'm making a meal for me and my friend who will also be alone as her DH works in a restaurant.

We like WannaBe. I don't want some PR/Card selling company telling What to do.

I don't actually means much when you get a card or flowers on valentines day, it means so much more when it is done out of the blue.

Sunshinemummy · 31/01/2008 12:20

I disagree it means a lot to me when I get a card and flowers. Even if it's prompted it's nice to be thought of. I used to make DP's card every year until DS was born. This year I thought we might make him some heart shaped cookies for when he returns from his trip.

I'll do something, I'm always secretly disappointed if we have a "don't bother" year. I'm out in the evening at a meeting, but I'll make sure we squeeze something nice into the day, somehow.

We never do anything, anyway.
