Does anyone know why if someone has their privacy settings so you can't see when they were last online, why sometimes you can still see they are 'online'?

It still
Shows when you're actively online but it won't show the time you last were if that makes sense

Because you can always see when someone is online at that moment, but if they are not online you can't see their "last seen" - if that makes sense

Whatsapp actually has a new privacy setting now where you can also turn off "online" so no one can see when you are online. But you also won't be able to see when someone else is online if you switch it on.

Sometimes it can show they online and your think they talking to someone but they not.

I'm not wondering if they are talking to someone else (they definitely are!) but rather that they were flipping their privacy settings on and off for me, but it seems I'm over-thinking it as per usual!
