My boyfriend said he is going out with some friends soon. One of them has split with his wife who cheated on him. My boyfriend said to me "you won't be meeting him as he likes blondes". I said but I would not do anything. My boyfriend has been cheated on before. I think the world of my boyfriend and would never cheat. His friend is not my type as apparently all he talks about is football and is bald. I feel a bit offended he would think I would contemplate going off with his friends.

Did you tell him he'd offended you? Has he ever said anything else controlling?

EvenMoreFuriousVexation · 10/11/2022 17:36

So he's happy to be friends with a man who he thinks would try to shag his girlfriend?

A man is known by the company he keeps...

‘Blondes’? Is he from the 70’s?

conversationsinthedark · 10/11/2022 17:54

Are you sure he wasn't joking?

Pinkbonbon · 10/11/2022 18:16

Assuming he wasn't joking...why is he friends with someone he thinks would try steal his gf? Why are his boundaries so poor? Or worse-is it that HE is the type of person to do that, so he assumes his friend is too?

Oh God just ditch him and find someone who respects you as a person instead of someone who sees you as a mindless commodity to be guarded from other men. You think the world of him but clearly that's not mutual. He's disgusting. My fanny would seal up if someone said something like that to me as anything other than a joke.

This is so depressing. This is more of the ‘men can’t help themselves bs’ and it is the fault of women for existing in the same space as this poor lambs. This has got nothing to do with being cheated on and everything to do with him buying into a misogynistic narrative, which he can conveniently excuse on being cheated on.

I really doubt is this is the first and sadly not the last bs he’s spouted.

“My boyfriend said to me "you won't be meeting him as he likes blondes". ”

I think my answer would have been “Oh good. Glad that’s sorted then”, rolled my eyes, and not really taken the comment seriously, or to heart.

Or maybe “are you telling me you want me to dye my hair brunette?”

Or even, “OMG, but you like blondes too. I really hope you don’t meet any when you’re out because it sounds like you and him will be fighting over trying to get into their knickers”.

Whatever, I wouldn’t have taken it too seriously.
