Lovely husbands/partners - to be celebrated

Asked hubby last night if we should stop having cleaner whilst I'm on maternity leave as we're supposed to be cutting back on all luxuries so as to save money. No, he responds, you're not on maternity leave to do the cleaning, you're off work to look after the baby!
Sometimes, I love my husband.
Who else has had one of those moments recently.

postingatlast · 29/01/2008 11:46

can I celebrate myself??

[a DH, for those of you who don't already know!]

MoosMa · 29/01/2008 11:49

I have, DH doesn't normally do any baby stuff, which is fine with me, but tonight he's offered to put DD2 to bed for me so I can go out. Trouble is I have a stinking cold so won't be going anywhere, but still, the thought was there, I didn't have a cold when he offered!

YouKnowNothingOfTheCrunch · 29/01/2008 11:50

Go on then, PAL!

When I offered to cancel my weekend away visitng friends (without dss) because it just seemed to be getting too complicated dh said very firmly, "Nope, no matter how awkward it all gets, that's the only plan that is not being changed, you deserve it."

flowerybeanbag · 29/01/2008 11:56

I am in a bit of a teary state this morning, DS is being a handful. DH has an important interview after work this afternoon but said he will cancel it if I need him to come home.

BeMyLilBaby · 29/01/2008 12:03

My DH is generally good. Needs a gentle push sometimes, to remind him that attending to all after-school activities should not be my sole responsibility.

Did thank me for all the washing and ironing--said he really appreciated it.

chocolatemummy · 29/01/2008 12:48

my dh has a crap job and earns crap money, is always watching crap rpeats and nerdy car programmes on the telly or clips on utube and I mona at him all the time .......but he is truely amazing, patient, fab daddy and I love him so much

scorpio1 · 29/01/2008 12:49

i have been having one of those moments the whole time i have been pg with db3 - he can't do enough and i am being spoilt he is fabby, hence why i married him 10 days ago

Mumblesmummy · 29/01/2008 21:38

My DP is fantastic too. He's taking me away in a couple of nights as I've been a little hormonal (preggers) and even though he's worked every night all night for past two weeks he's taking me away on his one night off . He's done no end of lovlinesses lately

Oh and he just sent me a txt saying how am I and his son (in my tummy) and that he loves us... awww...

Hulababy · 29/01/2008 21:45

DH is fab

He has coped with me being on very high does of hormones over the past few months admirebly I think, lol!

Surfermum · 29/01/2008 21:45

Mine has organised for dd to go to my sister for 2 nights and he's taking me away to celebrate my birthday this weekend.

It was meant to be a surprise but he told me when I got upset as none of my friends responded to an email inviting them out for a meal.

I suspect it's Cornwall too PeatBog, but where we're going remains a surprise.

Quattrocento · 29/01/2008 21:47

My husband is fab. Last night I got in ridiculously late, he had made a lovely boeuf bourgignon, saved it for me. Had to leave really early this morning, but DH was up with me and made me some breakfast.

JossStick · 29/01/2008 21:56

My DH ran around after me when i had an op before Christmas and was on crutches. None weight bearing so he even washed my hair for me.

PhDlifeNeedsaNewLife · 29/01/2008 22:02

My dh comes home from work, helps feed ds, takes him in the bath (my two boys in together!), helps me put ds to bed.

Last night I had work to do so he cooked dinner, did the dishes, and put the recycling out.

At 4am when ds was crying he helped me give him some meds.

And whenever we have a bad night, he always, always urges me to nap during the day - even though he's been kept awake as much as me and has to go to work.

It's the highlight of my day when he comes home from work and ds crawls out to greet him, as fast as his little hands and knees will carry him.

FrannyandZooey · 29/01/2008 22:02

I was ill this weekend, very ill with stomach upset

dp was fab, he had to get much more involved than either of us would have liked and he was calm and kind all the way through, and kept a sense of humour about it

if it wasn't for the fact he told his BOSS some of the more amusing gory details when he phoned in to explain why he wasn't coming in to work that day he would be almost perfect

cinnamontam · 29/01/2008 22:04

My DH cooks dinner most nights and is just an all round gorgeous bloke

OracleInaCoracle · 29/01/2008 22:06

dh cooks and cleans most days and this time last year when i was discharged from hospital with my catheter still attached, he emptied my wee-bag for me. now THATS love!

Eve34 · 29/01/2008 22:15

My DP has just gone out and got me chocolate - god love that man

pepperpots · 29/01/2008 22:17

I suffer a little from depression and found myself writing a list of the things i hate about myself.... DH found said list and this is what he wrote word for word....

  1. I am fat - My wife is gorgeous and everything is perfect (even without make up )
  1. I have will have stretchmarks forever!!!! - They are called 'mummy stripes (courtesy of ds)and are proof that you have gone through the most wonderful experience of your life.
  1. I have wrinkles starting around my eyes - You are making the wrinkles appear by not smiling your gorgeous smile.
  1. I am sad 95% of the time and depress everyone around me - We have 2 gorgeous boys and you make us the happiest people around.

Then he wrote this:

We have been married for 8 months and they have been the proudest 8 months in my life. You are a wonderful mummy and a wonderful gorgeous wife. If you want to loose weight i will help you (not that you need too, if you want the most expensive wrinkle treatment i will buy it, if you want happiness I will spend the rest of my life giving it to you.... Believe in yourself as much as we do and if you love yourself only half as much as us then you are well on your way!!

OMG writing it down like that has made me I'm sorry for babbling but i think sometimes MN has a lot of the bad posts about DH and its just refreshing to read these

pepperpots · 29/01/2008 22:22

Seems I have killed this thread... I do that a lot

I'm sure your all vomiting about now

Countingthegreyhairs · 29/01/2008 22:24

(he was wearing them at the time ...)

Countingthegreyhairs · 29/01/2008 22:25
