A girl turned up to class this morning with a love bite. I thought I'd time travelled to 1975. People still do this???

Teen has had a couple. It took me right back! It seems teens don’t change, I remember having, and giving a few, back in the late 80’s. It seems teens need some sort of proof they’ve copped off (although that just meant snogging in my day!)

It is! It's "Look at Meeeee!"

This is a bit like 'Ew, just realised my parents had sex!'

Of course people still do it, it's not always 'proof' of anything. Some people like the feeling of doing it/having it done, and then have to bear the cringe for a day or two afterwards. People wear scarves to work to cover them up. It wasn't a 70s fashion, just because it was what you did in the 70s!

DS came home with one a few weeks back. How I laughed. Took the piss out of him
Big style but I'm a childish git

Itisbetter · 02/11/2022 13:26

I never see them now but they were fairly commonplace in the 80s.

Chefwithnolife · 02/11/2022 16:19

I'm in my 40's, I still have them occasionally... sadly its a downside to liking being bitten during sex...🤷‍♀️

Possibly because you were a teenager then, and so spent much more of your time in close contact with other teenagers?

Yup, I make sure they stay away from my nick though!

I didn't do anything in the 70s, Watchkeys. It was before my time, I wasn't born!

Why did you think it was from the 70s then?

LyndaLovelace · 02/11/2022 16:50

It's like a badge.

Some of my school friends ( all those years ago) swore that rubbing them with toothpaste removed them.

DatingDinosaur · 02/11/2022 17:31

Well, it was halloween yesterday so I guess the vampires have been out Halloween Grin

Because I've never done this and neither have my mates. I've heard about it though. Films like Grease and so on. Never encountered it personally. I thought it went out with Angel Delight and Raleigh Chopper bikes.

Smile It's a not uncommon sexual behaviour, and you see it on teenagers because they're indiscreet!

It was probably made a fuss of in the 60s and 70s, because before that, it was the 50s, and any 'girl' below 25 and not 'engaged to be married' was hanged even just for kissing, I believe...

Itisbetter · 03/11/2022 13:13

@Watchkeys Possibly because you were a teenager then, and so spent much more of your time in close contact with other teenagers?. Nope. I still have eyes and am surrounded by teenagers much of the time. It doesn’t appear to be “a thing” anymore

Itisbetter · 03/11/2022 13:15

Watchkeys · 03/11/2022 14:14

@Itisbetter

Okeydokes.

Brigante9 · 03/11/2022 15:03

I asked a Year 9 the other day if his gf was a vampire. He and his best mate were fairly covered! I told them it looked awful.
