Claire's Law help!!!

This is probably a silly question but I want to be 100% sure. The person I am enquiring about for Claire's Law will not be told will he? I am doing it online. I don't want to give much information about this man but he is my partner and he has flipped my life upside down this past year. Thanks

No he won’t be told.

Nanny67 · 29/10/2022 08:00

No he won't.

Hooverphobe · 29/10/2022 08:02

If they have nothing on him, what will you do?

will you only leave if there is past evidence of DV?

you can phone WA and they WILL believe you.

OnTheBrinkOfChange · 29/10/2022 08:07

No, they're not going to tell him. What is the problem with him? Are you scared of him?

Have you reported him to the police? You should - then the next time someone does a Claire's law application they willl get accurate warning

Ofcourseshecan · 29/10/2022 08:24

What a nightmare. Go, and best of luck, OP xx

Hooverphobe · 29/10/2022 08:38

I’m so glad to read the wheels are in motion. 🤗 but please call WA on Monday - you don’t need to be beaten black and blue physically to get their support and the effects of abuse can be long-lasting even after you’ve left and are safe.

@daisycup22 well done for making this first difficult step. I'm wishing you a long, happy, fulfilled life. You deserve it ConfusedSmile

lightlypoachedeyeballs · 29/10/2022 09:34

That last Confused face was a typo, sorry.

Here's a cheery hallowe'en one to make up for it Halloween GrinHalloween Smile

Hi all,

I left this man very shortly after I made this post before I got my disclosure back (I've changed my name back but not sure if it has worked). The police were aware I wasn't with him anymore but due to the severity they still shared his history with me. Well anyway, I received the disclosure from the police and I was absolutely sickened. There were charges and reports of every kind of domestic abuse you could imagine from assault, battery, stalking, harassment and threats to kill. These were from 10 different women. He never put his hands on me but he was extremely paranoid and verbally abusive. I had a lucky escape. If anyone reading this feels they're with an abusive man or there are red flags please run, never look back and make an application under Claire's Law. Even if it comes back clean, leave!!! My life is so much happier and I'm already feeling like myself again! Grin

Congrats on your escape and I'm very glad to hear your ill treatment was not on the same scale as his previous victims. 😊
Let's hope 2023 is about peace and happiness.

So glad to hear this OP.

Have you heard of the Freedom Programme? Worth a look.

ThePoshUns · 08/01/2023 21:10

I work in a field where Claire's Law is used a lot. It's nice to know it works. Well done to you for getting out and for letting us know.

I haven't no, they did send me a link with loads of places to contact though. They're putting me in touch with woman's aid and said they will assign me a person for some 1:1 support. I will have a look into that x

Zanatdy · 08/01/2023 21:24

Well done for taking that step and getting away from this guy. Unbelievable shame someone like him isn’t locked up and not allowed to be around women

ShakespearesBlister · 08/01/2023 21:35

Well done for getting away. So pleased you had the presence of mind to find out about the law and make an enquiry. Even though you got away anyway, this shows the importance of knowing about Claire's Law and how to use it.
