PTSD in relationships

whattodo87 · 10/10/2022 00:40

Does anyone have any experience of living with someone who has this which was caused from a previous relationship?
Or know of any support groups, either IRL or online ?

A friend of mine is struggling with her partner as is a little lost as to what to do.

Thanks,

Husband with ptsd but not from a previous relationship. Feel free to private message if you want. Some things I would say without knowing the full details are:

  • ptsd put people into survival mode and sometimes partners can get caught up or linked in a trauma and become a trigger as I was
  • You cannot force anyone to get help. They have to want the help
  • As they say on aeroplanes you need to put your own oxygen mask on before helping others. Your friend needs to look after herself first and foremost

Thank you for your message.
Sorry for the slow acknowledgment, I haven't been on since you posted.

I will message you though.
