How do you deal with a mother than never bothers to ask how your are? Or even your children really?

Shes quite a difficult person to get on with but she’s just not interested in my children, rarely contacts us, she’s very stubborn person and seems to wait for me to contact her. I've sent pictures and she’s read them and never replied, honestly getting to a point for my mental health that I should give up trying as nothing changes even though I’ve mentioned she just seems to be in some depressing phase in her life where she just doesn’t care, sad really that her life like this.
she has no friends and my dad no longer with us..
so it’s not like she’s short on time..

just wondering if anyone has this too x

I'm so sorry that you're feeling so neglected by your mum... Some mums really don't know how to cope with their children becoming adults... Some mums just don't have the wherewithal to manage in the 21st century... I don't know what to recommend, but hope that a fellow MN devotee will have some advice.

Is this normal behaviour from your mother OP? Was she emotionally available and nurturing to you in your childhood or was the relationship based on her and her needs?
If this is new behaviour for her then it could be something going on with her now causing her to withdraw, if it’s always been this way then unfortunately it’s who she is and none of us can make another person change. We can only control ourselves and our reactions to other peoples treatment of us.
