In my dh's Facebook account, in the Shop section, in the 'For You' bit, which is described as 'based on your shopping activity', there was a pic of a woman in sexy underwear. Black, kinky, porno style. Needless to say, he's never bought me any like this. (Or any underwear at all, actually.) Best case scenario: does he just not have settings on to filter this out? Not so good scenario- Does that mean he's left those settings off cos he looks at whatever online? Worst case- this would only come up if he's been buying this stuff...for someone else...for himself?! What comes up for you on your FB shopping page? Tbf, when I scrolled right, right down through mine I did finally see a post for kinky underwear, and that's not based on my shopping choices! But the ones at the top related to actual stuff I've searched. I only had a v brief glimpse at my dh's phone so don't know if there's loads like this...

I'm a guy.

Most of what appears on my FB marketplace is related to what I'll have searched for in the past. I helped my MIL with a fridge and previously looked for garden furniture so my "Top Picks" tend to be home related.

With that said, I have seen underwear / women's clothes appear which is completely irrelevant, if not outright weird. If I wanted to buy my partner swimwear / lingerie, second hand on Facebook would be a creepy starting point.

The "picks" themselves wouldn't have been anything to worry about but the reaction, immediately grabbing back the phone, is somewhat more suspect.

Shop is in the main menu, which is the horizontal lines on the right-hand side on the mobile app. It's not the same as Marketplace and seems to be a mix of new and secondhand.

OP I think any rubbish can come up through metadata. It will be algorithms.
I only have to have a conversation in a room with someone and I get advertising.
I've tried 100 times to change security but thus far have failed.

I’ve just found the shop section for the first time, so thank you for that! I’m afraid it was all stuff related to my interests and/or purchases though…

First time I've ever looked at this section and it seems to be completely random....A lot of baggy sports clothes & trainers which is complete opposite of my style

If it helps I've just looked at mine as I didn't know it was there and it brought up hideous sofas, I definitely haven't even been looking at nice sofas, nevermind hideous ones!

Nope. Still can’t find a shop.

These were the third one my list. Not roller skated since I was about 6. No idea why they have appeared.

What would you think?

Thank you all- I wanted to be told I was probably over-reacting and I'm feeling that's the case now. Appreciate all your comments x

I think you shouldn't be over riding your feelings. Whether you're right to be suspicious isn't necessarily the issue: Why are you suspicious? Maybe he's guilty in some way, maybe there's an insecurity you have from a previous or past experience. But whatever it is, the thing to do with feelings isn't to push them to one side.

I think that this level of scrutiny and analysis of your husband’s online activity is unhealthy.

Amen.

I got those too, literally never ever looked up rollerskates!

Mummydoingmybest · 27/09/2022 19:13

Oh all that weird stuff comes up on mine too and I don’t buy it! I think it also shows you things your fb friends may have looked at too!
