Myself and my husband have split up, but live together as can't afford to move out. We have three children and one child has behavioural issues and is awaiting an assessment. He is incredibly aggressive and constantly lashes out at items around the house and at me and my other children. When he's on his own he is fine. This is really effecting our mental health and I have had 3 breakdowns as a result. My eldest has also had a breakdown (9).
We can't go on like this. The only solution we can think of is for us to split the children and one of us moves out with the two that are constantly attacked.
The council have refused to help us so far as we are both on the council tenancy and we are absolutely desperate to move on from each other, and save the mental health of myself and our children.
We've looked into private renting, but that's impossible as you have to earn 2.5 times the monthly rent. My husband works and I had just come out of full time education and was looking for work when I had my first breakdown.
I can't get fully better in this environment. We desperately need help. I'm at my wits end and feel like we have no options.
I will be going to citizens advice on Wednesday, and seeing how they can help, but in the meantime, does anyone know if the council would split our household this way?
I will also he contacting my doctors about speeding up my sons assessment and help for me and my two children. We are also in contact with the school about this.
