Tips for improving confidence self esteem

I am not sure it is strictly the correct topic area, but as it is to do with my relationship with myself posted it here. Due to an abusive childhood, long illness and addiction issues I have very low confidence/self esteem. I know this, it has recently been pointed out by my new employer, which only makes it worse. So wondering if you wise MNetters had any good tips. TIA.

How did your new employer point it out? I can understand how that didn’t help xx

There are some fab books off Amazon that can help and journaling is useful

it’s not an overnight process but so worth it!!

I'd start with doing things which give you a sense of pride in your efforts and achuevement: taking a qualification, exercise with a goal (like a 10k race), investing in your wardrobe and hair and cosmetics, volunteering, quitting alcohol, cooking and eating well, a home makeover.

I'd also be careful to spend time with people who care for you and whom you find admirable in some way, and spend less time with others.

These small things over time can translate to a sense of purpose, drive, self-worth together with better memtal health, better sleep and better physical health.
