Would you still date someone if you hated their voice?!

I've been messaging a man for almost a week, due to meet this weekend. His profile pics are attractive. He has excellent communication skills and seems nice.

But he just voicenoted me, and has a voice like David Beckham. Sort of high pitched and sounds like has no brain cells there (even though his written chat is excellent).

My vagina shrivelled up when I heard the voicenote. I don't think I can go on a date with him. Would you cancel a date over something so petty?!

I’d give the date a go. It might be better in person you never know.

It’s hard to get past though..

My vagina shrivelled up.

PMSL!!! 😂

Spaceprincess · 16/09/2022 14:07

I'd cancel.
I met DP online and was worried I'd hate his accent (he's from Stoke, wasn't sure what it would be like).
I actually really liked his voice so was ok, would have thrown him back otherwise.

Pragmatically, how many other options do you have? If you have a queue of men to choose from who meet your criteria as well as he does, don't bother. But if you think he's a rare potentially great match, and the only box he doesn't tick is the voice (box!) Id give him a chance.

The vagina wants what the vagina wants.

Any update OP?? Did you go on the date?

baldymog · 20/09/2022 19:30

Exactly this happened to me. Our first voice call and I couldn't get past the high pitchedness.

Devo1818 · 20/09/2022 19:44

If he looked like David Beckham, absolutely.

Whichwhatnow · 20/09/2022 19:59

I met a man when very drunk, we exchanged FB and I liked the look of his profile the next day so asked him out despite not really remembering anything about him and our conversation.

Imagine my horror when he called me from a couple of minutes away because he couldn't find the venue and he sounded like a cross between Vicky Pollard and Julian Clary. Of course at that point it was too late to back out but I'd mentally written him off.

We've been married now for nearly 4 years 😆

Aww I'm really hoping this one goes well! David Beckham's voice isn't too bad, his lovely smile makes up for it being a bit squeaky, hopefully this bloke will be the same.

I've come across a couple of absolute deal breakers, voice wise. One very high pitched, like a child, but in person he had spidery little hands and almost killed a cyclist in his ridiculous huge range rover, neither of which helped me get over the voice. The second was actually lovely but had done some very amateurish sounding voice modulation to cover up a non-British accent. He sounded like the queen mother.

spidery little hands!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!🙌🖐👐😂😂😂

Namechangenumber23 · 21/09/2022 01:36

Yep. Over 20 years ago. Friend of friend said she knew someone who would be perfect for me. We chatted over hotmail messenger for a bit then arranged a phone call with the idea we would arrange to meet up.

He sounded like Donald and Davey Stott from Vic Reeves Big Night Out.

Nope.

CapturedLeprechaun · 21/09/2022 20:31

Forgot to update - went on the date, he was 10 years older than he'd said on his dating profile! It said 42 and he was 52 and his pics were all 10+ years out of date, easily! He was still attractive in a "silver fox" kind of way, but the age combined with the voice made it a total no-go for me. I'm not massively short on admirers (humble brag), so I definitely don't need to slum it with high pitched catfishers!

Mummysharkargggggggg · 22/09/2022 16:55

I wouldn't even go on a date I'm afraid 🤷‍♀️
My friends husband is a lovely man in every way but he sounds like joe Pascally ( can't spell it lol) and the thoughtful having to hear it 365 days a year would have me running for the hills .
