Something Missing - Or Just a Blip?

Been with BF for 3 years, both early 40’s, each have 2DCs from previous relationships. We have, on the surface, a brilliant relationship- fun, supportive and loving.
Increasingly, though, I feel like something is missing, and find myself feeling sad when I consider the successful relationships around me (DSis & BIL, DB & SIL, several friends’ relationships). Most of these are ‘second time around’ relationships like mine, yet others’ partnerships feel more tangible than my own. Could it be that BF and I just haven’t got that ‘special something’ that elevates a relationship from ‘nice to have’ to ‘couldn’t be without’?
