Professional Dating Services

Has anyone got any experience of a professional dating service ?

Im post 3 years of separation, divorce is being finalised and I am now thinking about moving on.

I’ve dabbled on apps but I’ve not had much luck. My friend said I should try out a professional service but they start from about £2.5k. Which is a small investment if I find a life partner but equally a large sum if there’s no bite.

just wondered if anyone has tried a company and whether there are any observations.

@VaddaABeetch yes so do I , but most likely a lot of them will in the future...they just don't want them yet.

It is so so common for men to say they don't want kids then change their mind and bugger off and have kids with the next person they meet quite quickly!

I didn't want that happening to me so I thought I had better stick with someone who has had them already! ....I was hoping the kids would maybe be a bit older and not around as much.

Incidentally, I phoned a law firm that had represented someone who had had the same experience as me and sued her dating agency and won (there was an article in the Daily Mail). They said they had had dozens of enquiries from people who had had the exact same experience as I had but that ultimately almost nobody went ahead with legal action because of the stress and cost. Mine was a UK wide agency. A lot of agencies are run by one company so there are less than there look to be (and therefore very little real choice).

A friend of mine, gay man, told me he paid "a five figure sum" for a pro matchmaker. Five figures?! That's £10k plus.

He had lots of first dates, no second date.

Then he met a hottie on Bumble....

This is all very disheartening.

I joined the agency I did as they have been on tv, radio, in the newspapers/press so I thought they would be reputable! 🙃

I'm sorry OhHenry. Dating is a very disheartening process for so many of us. It only has to work once though - that always kept me going. And it did indeed eventually work once (fingers crossed I don't fuck it up now I've met him!).

OhHenry · 05/09/2022 10:20

@cornonthehob did you meet him through the agency?

cornonthehob · 05/09/2022 14:32

OhHenry no, I met him through PlentyOfFish of all sites! The last place in the world I expected to meet "the One" but I suppose there's truth in the idea that it pays to be open minded and to look everywhere there are men!

Wow, I was thinking these sounded a great idea when I was fed up to the back teeth of the aps, didn't know about the NDAs and lack of candidates etc.

What has dabbling looked like on OLD? Just swiping apps? Maybe try different ones before making such an investment? I've recently met someone really nice on Hinge where you get more of an idea of their personality rather than copy and paste shite about 'no drama' and wanting a 'partner in crime' such as you find on Bumble and Tinder. Or you do with those that make the effort to fill it in anyway.

Previously I met two boyfriends who were nice but didn't work long term on Match so maybe a decent paid app could be a middle ground? Incidentally, I know it's a cliche but went on some walks with the Ramblers and you couldn't move for single guys wanting to chat to you as a newbie!

OhHenry · 07/09/2022 18:36

@Animalism -

Yea I swiped on tinder basically. I didn't try bumble nor hinge! Perhaps I will give hinge a go! And maybe I should consider match also!

I have Just received a phone call today about my first match. He is 39 so not that Much older than me!

She gave me various details about him! I feel nervous about meeting!

I will keep you all updated 😆
