Mentionitis

Can it ever be innocent?

Out of the blue new workmate who is mentioned every evening for a good six months?

As soon as steps in the door a little resume of this individual and their daily doings?

Is this a man mentioning a woman, or vice versa ? I’d say not, one might just have a crush on the other, or it might be more.

MimmiCooper · 29/08/2022 18:31

Man mentioning woman
Often very mundane stuff

Has has given her a nickname / pet name very ineffectual nickname but has her filed under this name in his phone and uses it in work correspondence to her .
Shes a good bit younger than him and in relationship .

Sounds like he has a crush on her and doesn't even realise.

The time to worry is when he stops mentioning her at all.

Roselilly36 · 29/08/2022 18:42

Yes I would agree, he’s got the hots for her.

Mrstwiddle · 29/08/2022 18:45

Agree with the above, he fancies her, she may or may not be aware/care.

Mrstwiddle · 29/08/2022 18:45

Sorry, that reply comes from experience :(

I mention a lad at work a lot to my partner, I know I do, but he's 2 years older than my daughter so absolutely no way on God's earth that I fancy him, I just find him and his antics absolutely hilarious. It may be that he fancies her so I'd be on (small) alert, but I wouldn't jump to conclusions either on this alone

He has a crush on her for sure.

Would he act on it? Well who knows as we don’t know your DH

PersonaNonGarter · 29/08/2022 23:33

Yes, he fancies her.

Next he will tell you that he thinks she fancies him. Again, this is code for he fancies her.

Marineboy67 · 29/08/2022 23:45

He probably fancies her, in the forefront of his mind hence the constant referrals.
Had an ex that did this referring to the Nigerian porter at work. A week after we split they were together.

PiecesofFive · 29/08/2022 23:48

Men are so very easy to figure out, you don't need us to tell you what you already know.

How to solve it, well that is the question.

Esra09 · 01/09/2022 22:51

Same thing happened to me and made my back go up at the time. Me and my ex recently got back in contact after 13 years and he mentioned there was a little thing. Talking from experience. Trust your gut feeling always.
