Someone in a Facebook group I'm in often posts pictures of her husband, or the both of them, with "the pensh in the garage" or "Me and the pensh at Blackpool" is this a term of endearment I've not yet encountered? Anyone else heard it?

He's mid to late 50s, she's early 50s, like you said probably just a joke about him being older, never thought of that!
