There were no mobile phones and you would arrange a date during the week and then just turn up at the weekend with no texts or angst in between?

“I’ll see you at the cinema on Saturday at 5” and that would be it.

I remember once being 15 minutes late for a date and I’ll never know if he had turned up and left before I got there or never come at all as I had no way of contacting him.

Yes I remember (I’m aged 45) Simpler times but not nice waiting for someone to turn up and waiting ages because no way of letting you know they were running late!

I'm in my 50s, so yes I remember.

Dating these days seems so much more complicated.

I remember those days , I was seeing a lad that I really wanted to finish with but was thinking if the right words as he seemed quite keen on me and I didn't want to upset him . However my mum never like him so she had great pleasure in picking up the home phone realising it was him and telling him we were over ! And as he lived 20 miles away I never saw him again and just avoided answering the phone for a few weeks . No texts / messaging / him getting in touch with my friends /stalking me on fb . Over - job done 😀
