Single mums what do you do on your child free time?

Just curious what other single mums do when their kids are with their dad.
Feel like I spend all my time inside, watching tv or reading!! None of my friends are single, im not really a hobby person, have depression and anxiety so that doesn’t really help either!

When I didn't have DP and the kids were with their dad I would enjoy:

Staying in bed all day watching Netflix, getting up at 5 having a bath then getting in clean pjs and back to bed Smile

Or meeting up with a friend

Or cleaning

Or eating lovely food from M&S

Oh how I loved it

Ahhh I'm very similar! I go to the gym and then end up waiting at home for them to come home 🙈

Are you newly single? I was like this at the start but I'm a lot more social 18 months down the line. It took me that long to rebuild my confidence.

FlyingSaucerss · 20/08/2022 18:48

I don’t get any as my kids dad doesn’t see them but if I did I would sleep or clean 🤦🏻 Enjoy it I would give my right arm for a break it’s a shame so many single mums seem to not want one 😣

Depends. Catching up with friends - none of mine are single, but they’re still friends and happy to meet up. Are yours not? Or do you not feel you can ask?

concerts, shows etc that I want to see.

or doing nothing - lazy days at home, or take myself out for a walk, shopping, cinema.

I love and value my alone time, but then my ex is not that consistent and so it can be months between them, but then others times more regular. I don’t particularly miss my kid, I mean I do, but equally I know she’s enjoying seeing her dad and the down time is valuable for me.

I don’t date, mostly because I can’t be bothered!

Maybe when they’re at school?

My dd is home educated but not really the same as a weekend away anyway which is what I long for...

Fudgeycaramel · 20/08/2022 18:58

It’s not, but better than nothing.

My ex isnt on the scene so my DC isnt often away, however I am lucky to work part time so I get a school day of downtime every week, during term time.

I always feel a bit overwhelmed with the pressure to "make the most" of this day. I try not to do any chores, and make sure I get an online shop the night before.

I might pop to library, read, browse charity shops, go for a walk or jog, garden (for pleasure - not mowing etc). It never seems enough to be honest!

I'm a solo mum by choice (I used a sperm donor to conceive) so my son is either with me or in nursery. I was late to motherhood and am grateful I even managed to conceive so at this moment in time, I'm accepting that the situation is as it is. I had 20 years to do what I wanted (which I did) so don't feel like I'm particularly missing out on anything. Of course, it'd be nice to have a few hours to myself on the weekend to get some errands done, but I take annual leave if it's anything that must be done and without interruptions. Otherwise the weekends are with my son and I get downtime on e he's asleep in the evening then I'd usually make dinner, catch up with a friend (either on the phone or they come over).

Date, hobbies, travel, friends, chill and have wine

popandchoc · 20/08/2022 21:09

Clean, watch netflix/tv, go to the gym, see friends, go shopping.

minticecreamisjustok · 20/08/2022 21:44

When I was newly single, I was dating in my free time, now that novelty has worn off. I enjoy having a lie in on my day off, going to get my nails or pampering done, go shopping, watch a movie and takeaway, love my own company so that helps.
