Doing the right thing re: friends' separation-any tips

Great friends of ours are separating, very amicable, one child involved . Equal friends with both parties and although this sounds very innocent we have no friends/relatives who have separated before so new to us! Any hint on how to retain friendship with both or can anyone fill me in on what you found annoying from friends in that situation?

If anyone wants to talk about the break up, NEVER offer an opinion either way, stay neutral.

ditto what cotton flee said. The biggest thing is to remain neutral!!
