Would you approach him?

Hey Mumnet

So I've been polite with a guy (delivery driver) a few weeks, Hellos and waving from across the street. I don't know his name, he is very attractive and I would like to get to know him better.

I don't know if he is interested or just being polite.

How would you go about exploring this? Would you approach him?

Order something and hope he delivers it? Other than that no I wouldn’t approach him what would you say?

No idea, I don't want to look like a crazy person 🤣..

Speak to whoever he's delivering to and ask them to pass on your number?

(there is the possibility you'll have to move house / emigrate if he doesn't get in touch though Wink)

GreyCarpet · 10/08/2022 00:50

At the ripe old age of 48, I no longer care how I appear. What I have learnt is that people are flattered if you find them attractive. Even if they are not interested, they are flattered. And it's nothing to be ashamed of. They don't think you're a loser, it's not embarrassing and no one will think you're crazy

So I would just go over to him, make polite conversation for a minute and if there was not anything immediately off putting about him, I'd say, "Look, I've got to go now but, if you fancy going out for a drink, give me a shout," and give him your number on a piece of paper.

Fuck it, what's the worst that could happen?

weathervane1 · 10/08/2022 00:54

I agree with @GreyCarpet. I'm 57 and the one thing that you learn with age is "what could really go wrong?" Mostly it's your own fear acting as a blocker. Zero to lose and lots to gain.

GreyCarpet · 10/08/2022 00:55

You could actually approach him and say, "So... do you come here often..? 😉"

And he'll probably answer something like, "Feels like I'm here all the time!" Or whatever. And you can chat about the weather.

He'll know its a lighthearted joke and a bit of a flirtation and, at the very least, it'll give him something to smile about when he gets back in his van.

Monty27 · 10/08/2022 00:57

I'd just keep smiling and hope he'd approach me 😃

What did you say??

WomanHere · 11/08/2022 19:54

Good luck, keep us in the loop.

emerald7 · 22/08/2022 14:37

I literally just walked up to him, said Hey, asked how he was doing introduced myself and he asked for my number.

We ended up at the same event the next day coincidentally, I was a couple of rows behind him in the queue. Small world!

This is such a lovely thread. Very happy for you, OP. We could all do with a little more courage like this. I hope this turns into something beautiful for you.

Successgirl2022 · 03/09/2022 22:48

Well done! Good luck.

I also said hello to my husband online.

We've been hopefully happily married for 17 years. Our son is 15 😀
