How to navigate introducing a bf to children

How did you tell your ex that you wanted to introduce a boyfriend to your kids? How did you go about it?
Im a bit lost with how to go about this but we had agreed to discuss with one another before introducing someone to kids.
We are divorced, have been apart for 4 years now, we have small amounts of contact to do with kids and when either of us collects them etc.
Also do I introduce him as a friend, kids are 5/9/11
I've never done this before and I want to get it right for them

Almost a year

How long have you been with your bf? In terms of your ex, if you have a good relationship with him you could let him know you have met someone but ultimately it’s none of his business. I would probably wait at least a year before you go down the path of bringing your bf into the kids life.

Posted at same time there, yes it's coming to the year mark and I want my bf to be part of my full life not just my child free time

How do you normally communicate with your ex? If it was me I would just send a message- maybe "just wanted to let you know I've been seeing someone and was thinking of introducing him to the kids" and then just answer any questions he has.
