Do I text him?

After being with my partner for 3 years I got dumped out of the blue by text message, with him saying he wasn't happy but no more details other than that. Then total silence. Took me 6 long months to even start getting over him when he popped back up. Foolishly, I met up with him and we started seeing each other once a week. This has been going on for nearly 3 months now. Over the last week he's been taking longer to reply to my messages and now he seems to have stopped replying altogether. I knew it was risky starting things back up again but (naively) I didn't think he'd sh*t on me twice. I'm unsure whether to text him and ask for an explanation. I never got one all those months ago, and I didn't ask for one either. I'm feeling so upset, surely I deserve to know why he's done this again?!

A friend just said to me this week that she lives by:

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on you. Fool me three times, shame on me.

Not sure I agree with her about the amount of 'shame on yous', but either way I think you need to cut your losses, see him for who he is and move on

Motherofalittledragon · 05/08/2022 19:31

Yep definitely block and move on, and don't trust him again.

dudsville · 05/08/2022 19:33

No, don't text. There's never going to be a good reason. Block and move on.

OldFan · 05/08/2022 19:40

Block him on everything and keep him blocked so there's no risk he'll mess with your head again and waste your time.

PeskyYeti · 05/08/2022 20:00

When someone shows you who they really are, believe them!! Block him. Should have done it months ago.

I'm absolutely gobsmacked to be honest! 3 years I spent with him and he can happily treat me like absolute crap, not once but twice!

Not criticising you because most of us have been there. You LET him treat you like shit twice. Learn from it and you will feel great having the upperhand. Just keep remembering how you feel at the minute and how you don't want those emotions to come back again. Once you are the one in control, you will feel great. The fact that you are having this discussion on MN, should tell you how he is just not worth it. Good luck x

In your OP you said you were back seeing him once a week - that's not really a relationship is it? It's a booty call for him. It's very easy to get sucked back into relationships though but it is time for you to firmly close that door. Block him - it makes life a lot easier!

rumplestiltskinp · 06/08/2022 12:10

You think you need closure but you've had it; he's phasing you out.

You think you need an explanation but you've got one; he's clearly phasing you out.

You think he should tell you what he's up to, but he has; by his actions.

He's phasing you out because he no longer wants to be with you and he's a coward, and you've had a lucky escape.

Cut contact now and don't entertain him again. If he ever contacts you in the future respond only in the form of laughter.

(he's phasing you out)

Ffs hes got another girlfriend
Block delete and move on

WaitingForWinter1 · 06/08/2022 12:58

He'd been seeing you once a week. What did you think he might be up to on the other 6 days? He's got another woman (or women). Get rid and don't be a mug for him.

Vainandjustrealised · 06/08/2022 13:01

Your closure is that he doesnt like you very much for whatever reason

There

Now cry, have a glass of wine
Go out a run
Meditate
Read and listen to block delete move on by lalalermeexplain
Have a bath
Paint your nails
Go swimming in the sea
Go a hike
Read a book
Make a tiktok
Water your plants
Clean your entire house top to bottom

Do anything other than give this guy a second thought
