What does it mean when a guy shares food with you?

Out of the blue the other day a coworker asked me if I would like a grape, and I so I took one, he made a joke saying that was the grape he wanted. But that was that.

Today, again, he had grapes as part of his lunch. He asked again if I wanted one, and I said yes, this time he gave me a stem of with a few grapes on it. I said thank you and went back to my desk (he sits behind me), he was on his phone speaking to someone, and when I was talking to my coworker next to me he left me his last stem of grapes.

Huh?

Ragwort · 28/07/2022 19:47

That's the sort of thing I would obsess about when I was a teenager - how old are you?

MissConductUS · 28/07/2022 19:53

It could mean that he's flirting with you or it could mean that he didn't want to eat all of the grapes that he packed. Or he might just be messing with your head.

thedevilinablackdress · 28/07/2022 19:53

a) he fancies you
or
b) he's got too many grapes

Saucery · 28/07/2022 19:54

His wife/Mum/girlfriend keeps packing grapes with his lunch and he hates them.

Bellatrix13 · 28/07/2022 19:56

He thinks you don’t eat healthily enough

Possibly this 😆. I'm not sure you can read much more into this, sorry. Do you fancy him?

NCresonableadjustments · 28/07/2022 20:01

It means he's polite.

yonce · 28/07/2022 20:02

I offer people food if I have an excess - e.g. a pack of sweets or punnet of fruit. I certainly don't want to entertain dalliances with them all!

TwittleBee · 28/07/2022 20:05

Oh my, idk, ask him?

Why do I share food with my co-workers... number of reasons:

• I've too much
• they're going out of date
• I don't want to eat alone
• I know my colleague likes them
• my way of saying thanks for something
• striking up a conversation
• being friendly
• not keen on the food

AlternativelyWired · 28/07/2022 20:16

Did he peel the grape for you?

It means he's polite.

This.

Unless he's sliding them into your mouth while breathing heavily.

Although maybe I'm wrong having given three male colleagues cakes this week I'm clearly an enormous slutbag.

ChezVous77 · 28/07/2022 21:21

Some men do flirt by sharing food but some men and women are simply generous and bond (as in friendship) over food sharing. That in isolation is not enough to guess his intentions.
I have offered food to colleagues who were staring at my food as I lose appetite if I felt someone was desiring my food it puts me off and makes me self conscious eating it all in front of them so I would offer out of politeness. Did you say you love grapes or that they look juicy or something? Did you accidentally stare at his food?

HoneyIShrunkThePizza · 29/07/2022 08:39

Ok now I'm panicking that my co-workers think I'm trying to get them into bed by sharing my biscuits.

IncompleteSenten · 29/07/2022 08:42

It means he's happy to share some grapes.

Most things really don't have deep, hidden meanings.

An offer of a grape is not a declaration of love.

Blue4YOU · 29/07/2022 08:43

my first thought- man shares food? Possibly signals the end of the world is nigh

MagneticRubberDucks · 29/07/2022 09:29

Honestly, it doesn’t mean anything other than he’s a nice man who thinks you like grapes.

Inklingpot · 29/07/2022 09:33

It means he wants to marry you and have your kids.

TurmericFan · 29/07/2022 09:36

If you exclaim "Ooh I could crush a grape!" next time he does this, then look meaningfullly into his eyes before smashing them one by one... Well... He'll know what you're suggesting!

Blankbias · 29/07/2022 09:37

Also never going to share food with coworkers again in case they leap to the conclusion I’m flirting with them!!!

Yes I am that old !

SunflowerGardens · 29/07/2022 09:44

Grapes are a well known choking hazard. Watch your back OP!

Wishimaywishimight · 29/07/2022 09:47

Definitely means he's in love with you 😆

MrsWooster · 29/07/2022 09:53
