Contraceptive argument

I can’t find a topic for contraceptive am I been blind? If so I will ask mumsnet to move thread if someone can point it to me!

so anyway,
I started the pill a few weeks again within 2 days it sent me crazy, like I can’t even explain. Dangerously crazy towards my partner that I had to stop taking it immediately. I was taking it in the morning and by afternoon I was angry miserable ect.
he doesn’t want me to take it again I do not blame him but my body my choice right?
I was wondering if I take it at say 9pm would this ride past my angryness? For example it took around 8 hours and I’d have a episode for a few hours of being angry but if I took it at night surely I’d sleep through that hormonal blip? Did anyone experience the same thing and has tried taking it at night? I’m on zetella. Tried the patch done the same thing to me

Sounds like you're sensitive to the hormones. You could try it for a few weeks but otherwise I'd be asking to switch to a different pill or something lower dose such as the coil.

MrsTerryPratchett · 19/07/2022 21:11

I'm trying to work out why you would take something that makes you mentally unwell. That's a massive side effect!

Coil?

Pinkbonbon · 19/07/2022 21:13

Not the right pill for you then.

They can take a while to settle though tbf.
But rage is not a side effect you should stick with pill wise. Try a different brand.

Phillpill · 19/07/2022 21:31

I was thinking I might be sensitive to hormones as the patch had the same effect. Not comfortable with having the coil put in place 😩 … I just thought as I was getting angry 8 hours after the pill in the morning if I took it at night it would be ok, that’s what a few people told me to try! But your right!
Ill stick to condoms!

The coil I have releases hormones. Unless there are other types I'd 100% avoid it in your situation.....

....not quite as easy to suddenly stop in the same way the pill is.

I've also noticed I'm much more hormonal with the coil than an oral contraceptive (Noriday) but that's just me

Phillpill · 19/07/2022 21:37

@drlel yep, I need something I can stop immediately due to the past history with contraceptive

dementedpixie · 19/07/2022 21:42

There are coils without hormones - often called the copper coil. Mirena is the coil with hormones

drlel · 19/07/2022 21:42

@dementedpixie thanks, I wasn't sure!!

Wombat27A · 19/07/2022 21:43

Whereas I am much calmer with a Mirena when I couldn't tolerate the pill at all.

So personal.

Phillpill · 19/07/2022 21:45

@dementedpixie my gp didn’t want to offer me the copper coil anyway as she thought due to age and history of periods it will make me constantly bleed

OP posts:
dementedpixie · 19/07/2022 21:46

What age are you?
Is the pill you've been offered the mini pill?
Are you not able to take the combined pill?

Phillpill · 19/07/2022 21:48

@dementedpixie 25, it was the mini pill as she said due to history with the patch, it has less hormones

OP posts:
dementedpixie · 19/07/2022 21:48

I think zelleta is a desogestrel based mini pill. You could ask to try a mini pill that isn't desogestrel based as it might not have the same effect on you

Phillpill · 19/07/2022 21:49

@dementedpixie thanks for advice! I will speak to the gp in the morning

Condoms.

Iheartmysmart · 19/07/2022 22:09

When I had Cerazette I could have quite happily murdered anyone and everyone. Changed to Noriday and was absolutely fine. Definitely worth trying another type.

Phillpill · 19/07/2022 23:11

@Iheartmysmart glad I’m not the only one! 😂

You can have a hormone free coil. Or there are loads of different pills to try.

But condoms would be even better of course, save you having to do anything much to your body x
