Getting back with an ex

Startingagain86 · 16/07/2022 16:09

i was with my ex for three years, we lived together for one, no children, never married. He is 48 and I am 41. We broke up just over two years ago because we were arguing a lot and he (despite his age) really wanted kids and I didn’t. I loved him a lot, he was my best friend and we had a lot in common… similar interests, careers, etc. The breakup was painful but we remained friends, although we have drifted with time. Shortly after we broke up, he met a 33 year old woman (she is now 35) and they moved in together very quickly (within 5 months). They have now been together two years. They got in engaged in October and are planning to get married next summer. I think they are also trying to conceive. I don’t understand this at all. She is just the rebound. Why would he go to such lengths to prove something to himself or me? And do you think I should tell him that I still love him, so we can be together?

This can't be true 😂

She is definitely the rebound. They met a month after he moved out of our house. He had told me he wanted to marry me. He had even bought a ring. I think the only reason he never proposed was because part of him thought I was too good for him and he loved me more then I loved him. I think maybe his feelings for me are stronger then mine for him, but I do love him. I’m just wondering if I should tell him and if so how?

He could of been seeing her behind your back? Why would he waste money on a ring he wasn't going to use. This is dillusional. He's met someone else. Who and what he does is none of your business and you are sounding quite stalkerish.

Those FB likes are not proof of love. The birthday cards are just friendship tokens.
You had something together once, you did not want the same things as him. It was a mutual split. He has a fiancee and a new life ahead, a better life for him.
He is not your man, or the fall back guy or the one that got away.
I suspect if you told him you loved him he would delete and block you off all social media out of respect to his fiancee's feelings and because he does not feel that for you anymore.

Oh dear OP, I mean this kindly but you need to get a grip. Please let this man go, for your own sanity.

No offence but it should like this guy had a lucky escape and I wish him all the best. I'm hoping this thread isn't real though.....

‘He still sent me a birthday card and he still likes my Facebook/instagram posts. You know when you know and I really think he is still in love with me.’

So do my exes, they’re just decent men. They certainly don’t harbour feelings for me. True love is action based, he’s showing in his actions that he loves his fiancée and is focused on his life together with her.

You really do need to move on and if you do love this man you’ll leave him well alone to pursue HIS dreams of a family.

You're over him, but you still love him? Right..

You know what op, go ahead and tell him. Declare your love for him, but tell him you still don't want children too, don't promise him children just to get him back.

Don't be surprised though if he tells you he isn't interested... You may not hold as much power over him as you clearly think.

The FB/Insta likes and the birthday cards just mean he's seen Fatal Attraction and is hoping to avoid a bathroom scene in the future. He's protecting his soon to be wife.
