Is anyone else estranged from a parent or parents?

and how does it affect you?

I have been estranged from my dad for the last 2 1/2 years and at first I was devastated. then a few months ago he sent me a letter out of the blue and it started to upset me again. now he has sent me another letter and I dont feel anything, not even angry. i just dont feel bothered and i think i should be.

Am i analysing things too much? and how does it affect your feelings?

So weird to see this thread - I haven't spoken to my parents for 11 months. I sent them an email to tell them that their second grandchild had been born (7 months after the falling out) but they didn't acknowledge it - I was devastated.

My dad did try to call me once thereafter but couldn't answer me when I asked him why they treated me like sh*t when I was growing up. My mom then got on the phone and told me to go away .

It is a heavy weight on my heart everyday but I am absolutely certain I don't want them in my life so I live with it.

It is hard wondering everyday why I wasn't good enough.
