We're going to Florida in March. It is DS's first time on a plane (he's 12) and he's terrified. He's cried, begged me not to make him go, had nightmares...I almost feel guilty to making him go at all but I know he'll love it whilst we're there.
Anyway I've tried going through accident statistics with him, pointing out how rare serious aircraft problems are, told him step by step what the plane journey is like...etc
Anyway last night he came home and asked DH "I was wondering, how come you don't have to wear seatbelts on a plane once its in the air?" so DH turned around and said "Well let's be honest, if a plane crashes, a seat belt isn't going to save you" DS's face went white, later on he was crying in bed again.
I'm so annoyed with DH, he's so bloody stupid sometimes. He realises that he was wrong to say what he did and tried to take back his words to DS but its not good enough. He does this kind of thing all the time.
