Yes. Other than technicalities like paying the bills and making sure you've got a roof over your head, this is the main body of being responsible for yourself.

'Stay away from things/people that make you feel bad' is the crux of a happy life. If you don't choose to be around negative stuff, your life will become largely positive, by default.

I went no contact a few family members who were toxic to my DC and me. I feel so much better for it.

They turned up on my doorstep last year expecting to be forgiven and to see dc. I had great satisfaction slamming the door in their face. Grin
