What stupid things did you do to your partner when you were younger?

I’m really looking for stories of people who have been with their partners since early twenties ish (or younger), that are still with them now, but did, well, young and stupid things to each other. What did you do? How did you get over them? Are they a factor in your lives now? How much have you changed since how you were when you did those things?

For context, when I was 22 I slept with one of my parents friends!! My partner knows about it now and has stayed beside me, because she knows that I was an idiot back then.

I’ve been with dh since 18, 32 now

honestly nothing too major but I was a right moody little princess for years and would be very difficult And petulant which probably made his life extremely difficult but he must have really loved me because he powered through and I’m a much easier going person now Avoid drama and kinder

do you feel guilt about what you did is that why you started the thread? How long had you been together by the point you slept with your parents friend, relationships do change and it could have been less serious when you were 22 and as your relationship has evolved it’s become insignificant in your past?

Yes I feel awful guilt. I think at the time I tried to sweep it under the carpet and never really dealt with why I did it. I just want to see if it’s normal to do things we regret to the people we love and if it’s possible to truly change and be a different person. I would never ever cheat now, but I read that so many people say ‘once a cheat always a cheat’ and I don’t think that’s true

Also I wonder if people really do change?

Goodness yes they do.. people change hugely from when they were in their teens/20s to their 40s.
