Hi everyone,

Has anyone had any trouble when starting the contraceptive pill Mercilon?

I started it a month ago and my god! My acne is so bad it’s affecting my confidence and my self esteem! I’ve got acne all over my forehead, hair line, chin, lips, shoulders, back, neck and between my breasts on my chest. I’ve never had acne like this before in all my life not even when I was a teenager!

they are like little red bumps under the skin some are redder than others and some are white! It’s really bad!

I’ve been prescribed zineryt by the doctor but it’s not helping! Has anyone had this? Should I preserve as it’s only been a month? What do I do? It’s not just caused acne but my sex dive has also gone and I’m so snappy too!

Is it possible to change contraceptive pills?

I did find that all contraceptive pills seemed to give me acne and melasma. But you might have better luck than me and find one that doesn't break you out.

Or you could try a different topical medication?

I've had acne forever and have had more success with skin and me than with any other medication I've used in the past (and I've tried most of the topical options out there over the years).

Dermatica is a similar concept. Happy to share my referral codes if you want to try either out (almost) free.

Skin & Me 2 months free (ex prescription fee of £3.50)

Dermatica (seems to be £2.90 then 25% off the next month using referral code)
