Travelling abroad - wasn't sure where to post?!

Me and partner split a few years ago, we were never married so I still have my maiden name but my son has his fathers last name.

To travel abroad I understand I may need to get written permission from my ex (Which isn't a problem, we obviously talk to/see each other regularly and are amicable) but just wondered whether he would also need my permission to take my son abroad even if their surnames are the same?

Cant find anything on Google!

Anyone who has parental responsibility (you get this from being on the birth certificate) is supposed to give permission from others with PR before going abroad. This is regardless of the surname of the child, so, yes he needs your permission to take your son abroad too.
