Is this gaslighting?

Long story short, our client got a new front door and I commented in passing that you can spray paint a pvc door. Nothing else was said, it wasn't top of my priorities list. Anyway DH takes it upon himself to buy the paint and do it himself. It looks a bit patchy in parts. We he blew up saying that I went on to get it done and did the best he could. This is untrue. If I had wanted it done I would have got a tradesman. He won't admit that I never said anything and all he said was he is sorry if he misspoke. He has also tried to get our son to come round to his version of events. This isn't the first time this has happened and I'm not letting it go. I think he was disappointed in himself and took it out on me. Why not just apologise properly and move on? I don't really give a fuck about the door to be fair.

It sounds like ge assumed you wanted it sprayed. Why mention it as you were passing the door otherwise?

Gaslighting is sustained emotional abuse where the deliberate aim is to get you to doubt your in narrative and ultimately, sanity.

This just sounds like he seconded guessed what you wanted instead of asking first.

I honestly wasn't fussed about the door. This isn't the first time that I have questioned the version of event and he is always right so far as he is concerned and then he makes out to our children that I am irrational - he's just told me he won't speak to me because I am irrational.

Sounds more like a miscommunication than gaslighting.

See NOW you're in gaslgihting territory.

Leave.
Don't fanny about. He is trying to turn your kids against you. Get out of there as fast as your legs can carry you.

...that being says, considering that new bit of drip feed, I wouldn't be surprised if you told us next that you were flinging something at him and that's why he called you irrational. In which case, back to the original comment lol.
