My partner's just had an abnormal brain scan

And I'm sick with worry.
He is calm as a cucumber.
They've found some old stroke scarring. He's only 48!
We had a crash and it seems that he is displaying all the symptoms of a stroke. The neurology team believe that the crash has exacerbated an old brain injury( of which he is unaware of) but are flummoxed.
Has anyone any experience of this and what was outcome?
They are going to release fluid from his brain tomorrow to release pressure and see what the fluid shows .
Please answer if you have any ideas thanks.

I'm so sorry OP. I don't have experience of this, but my DP also had an abnormal brain scan at one time ('diffuse brain atrophy') which raised a myriad of alarm bells. It took quite some time (and numerous further scans and tests) for us to get to a diagnosis as to the cause, which for him is thankfully not as alarming as we first thought, though still not ideal.

I'm sorry I can't help with your specific question but just wanted to offer a bit of support. I know it's an incredibly overwhelming time and am wishing you both the very best. I hope that everything tomorrow goes as well as is possible and gives you some answers and the beginning of a way forward.

I think it's quite common for the patient to be as cool as a cucumber and the loved ones to be hopping with anxiety, OP, we were the same when DH had a serious cancer scare. He was completely philosophical and I couldn't stop crying.

I know jack shit about neurology, so can't give advice, but I can offer a handhold and good wishes Flowers
