When should you swap numbers with someone from OLD?

Been chatting to someone from tinder for a week now. Previously I've given my number out to a couple of matches and ended up blocking them..
I really look forward to chatting to this particular guy, when I receive his messages I smile. Which is ridiculous. He's very different from the usual type I go for but he's come across as so decent and respectful.
Do you only really swap numbers when you're arranging to meet? I suppose the Tinder messaging function is much like WhatsApp?

A week is long enough to decide if you want to meet him, just give him your number and ask to meet, no point in building up a connection that might not happen or if he's turns weird, better to find out sooner rather than later.

Normally just a few messages in. Because you can send photos via WhatsApp. It doesn't matter, you can always block them down the line.

I would want to swap numbers before meeting. But I would want to chat on the phone before I met someone (I know people on MN hate this 🤣🤣🤣)
