I met a guy online a few months ago. He seemed a nice guy to start with, and we eventually started video chatting. Nothing rude or sexual. Just talking.

He seemed to be able to recall every detail of conversations we had, and every mannerism I make when talking. So commented on his excellent memory. He confessed he recorded each conversation and had kept every single email, message and photo I had ever sent - again, nothing sexual, but I feel somehow like my privacy had been invaded. Sounds like he watched the videos several times and scrutinised my every word and expression

I have since cut ties with the man, and he has obsessively tried to contact me, but thankfully has recently stopped.

Definitely not normal. Report him to the dating site. Men recording women without consent in any capacity is creepy as anything, to say the least.

Extremely creepy and inappropriate, recording you without your knowledge or consent. It's very different from keeping emails or photos sent as you'd expect those not to be deleted. Did you let him know this was unacceptable when you ended the chat/ he pursued you? I would report him to the dating site.

It’s sad, but in this technological age I think we have to be even more careful who we invite into our ‘space’. Men who do this kind of thing are a very small minority. But I think our “creep radar” has to be given full range of discovery outside in public, until we are 100% satisfied, before we engage personally further with them. Maybe it’s my age here. But I think one problem with internet dating is you don’t get that immediate physical sense and “vibe” that you do when you physically meet someone. A person’s internet profile description can lead us into a false sense of security.

If he was recording your meetings like this I can bet he would have recorded sex as well.

Very creepy and would block him, and be careful about who you video chat with again, maybe start by just phone chat until you get to know a person a bit better.
