For those of you who have gone NC did you tell the person or just ghost them?

Just that really...a family member has done some pretty unforgivable things and I am done. The immature part of me wants to tell them I'm done but then that is breaking the NC before i start isn't it? Anyone as petty as me?

I didn't announce it, I simply stopped visiting/responding.

The person concerned had been utterly hateful to me for years and eventually family ties were not enough for me to overlook their nastiness. It was the right thing to do.

Just quietly excuse yourself.

Some family members hooked on drama cut us off recently because we wouldn’t tell them something they didn’t need to know about someone else. We knew we should have cut them off years ago but better the devil and all that. But we’ve respected the wishes of their initial letter. They’ve continued to attempt to contact us as if what they really want is a drama and money. It’s exhausting. It caused a suicide attempt of another family member. It’s been horrific and they won’t leave us alone. But we can choose to leave them alone.

Stoically don’t do a thing that will encourage communication or response. Otherwise they’ve not really left your orbit. There you’ll find peace.

Ghosted out of the blue - but then other family members were on tenterhooks and over two years were also ghosted.

Walking on eggshells doesn't work.
