To what extent do family experiences influence those who live in the house? As children, parents... will a troubled environment, full of fights, cause behavioral problems in those around them? Will drugs and alcoholism be escape valves for those who live daily in this environment as a means of escape?

Children replicate as adults the relationships they experience as children. So an abusive relationship between the parents will land the kids in abusive relationships as adults, be they victims or perpetrators.

Almost always. Children who are brought up amidst dysfunction see that as their normal. They seek out people with the same dysfunctional behaviours as they grow older because that's what they're comfortable with, even if it makes them unhappy. Dysfunction breeds dysfunction, and damaged people are drawn to each other like magnets. That's why this circle of hell continues.

And many times these children grow up, continue living with their parents, and it seems they can't cut this umbilical cord, even though they still suffer in the environment, they are reluctant to leave home and seek new horizons, that seems like oxygen to them, that if they leave their parents' side their world will collapse, even though they go through so much suffering
