I am in a horrible situation. I have had to apply to court for custody of my granddaughter due to the mental health of my daughter in law and lack of interest from my son. I have been struggling to help my daughter in law get to a good place mentally. Paying for a counsellor for her, giving her a job in my small business, having my granddaughter since she was a baby and all to no avail. Her mother is a waste of space and was on drugs when she was growing up so she had no input really in her life and as a role model has been a pretty crappy one. She has allowed my daughter in law to be sexually abused by her own brother and covered it up. I am now in a position where my son and daughter in law have separated, my son is out every night from 7om till 4am most nights and my daughter in law had moved in with her abusive brother refusing help from me as she had nowhere else to go after trying to take her own life for the 3rd time in 2 years. This culminated in my decision to try and get my granddaughter into a safe environment by applying to a court for custody. Both my son and daughter in law have now blocked my contact with my granddaughter despite a judge allowing me 2 days a week and overnight stay. The emergency hearing went ahead and my granddaughter was left to live with my daughter in law whils a report is being put together by CAFCAS. Both my son and daughter in law are ignoring me and have blocked my messages etc. I would just like to know if anyone knowing the story would do the same in my situation. I did not take this decision lightly as I knew I would alienate them but just need reassurance as the heartbreak this is causing me is unbearable.
