Men asking if I have children and if so, if I have time to date

Is this usual? Two men have
asked me this question within hours of each other

Where have you met these men? Weather someone has kids is essential tbh.

Wouldn't any adult want to know whether a potential date is a parent? It's a massive thing.

Direct and to the point, possibly tactless but if it's from dating sites some people have been around a Loooooong time and go straight to the million dollar question.

I think it's understandable. Both knowing what they're getting involved in and whether or not they're wasting their time if you realise you can't do it.

No ones ever asked me before but probably because I do state I have children on my profile, I guess they won't match in the first place if it bothers them.

Presumably it's been the reason that previous relationships didn't work out so they are finding out sooner rather than later. If it's a problem, wouldn't you rather know early on?

I think it’s common sense to suss someone out early on, particularly through the online dating route. Why waste time?

Actually the advice on here to women is to ask whether a man has any kids so why would it be odd for a man to ask too?

I don't have children, and so far, I've had 4 men ask if I have time to date. I can make time, if they're worth it... some aren't. I did make a rule before signing up that existing activities and friends come first.

Ask them if they've seen Harry Potter then tap your nose with a knowing wink.

Yeah if your later on in life and it's not mentioned on your dating profile then men, especially those that don't have children, it will be the deal breaker for them as they won't have any restrictions in life and will have alot of free time on their hands and are most likely looking for a partner who is in the same life position, no point going any further if you can only meet up once a week, or need to go home early all the time to relieve the babysitter and only free the odd weekend and can't go away on holidays outside of term time etc they don't want to get involved in a family lifestyle such as family days out, holidays or eventually living together further down the line, it's just a complete non starter and no point wasting each others time.
Generally kids bring alot of hassle, dramas and problems to a relationship which isn't very appealing to those that have experienced it first hand before.

I always ask this question. Before I start chatting away with someone e who can't go out on dates because they have no childcare.

It was an eye opener. I never knew there were so many men on dating websites then didn't actually go on any dates.
