Met someone from OLD.
He is ridiculously tall. He's also really big, think Anthony Joshua build.
I'm 5ft 4 and I honestly feel ridiculous standing next to him.
We both liked each other and want to see each other again.
I'm just worried about the looks and comments we may get...

You are being very selfish by depriving a tall woman of a tall man.
🤣
Said by a tall woman with a shorter dh.

CheesePlantMurderer · 06/04/2022 06:01

My OH is 6'2 and built like AJ on steroids 😂 just generally a big guy and weights are his hobby. I'm 5'2 and average build. No looks here just silly young girls pawing at him when we go out out HmmGrin

CheesePlantMurderer · 06/04/2022 06:02

@BadLad

I'm a lot taller than my wife. Nobody has ever made any comments that I've heard, but sometimes I look at photos of us together and can't help thinking that we look like C3PO and R2D2.
😂😂 love this
froufroufrou · 06/04/2022 06:04

I think you should leave off and throw him back in the sea for ladies >5’8” who might want to wear heels now and again 😂
You can easily mop up one of these 5’9” dudes that nobody wants and give him a height ego boost.
Everybody wins!

AllTheWeetabix · 06/04/2022 06:19

I’m 5’4 and my other half is 6’5

I absolutely love it

😂 I was reading the OP and thinking, well no nobody is going to think it strange as the tall guys always seem to take up with smaller women. I'm 5'10 and have never dated a taller man. And whilst height shouldn't matter, there's no shortage of men who don't like women wearing heels if it makes them taller than them.
Although I am married to a lovely, secure in his height, shorter man. It tends to be only women who make arsehole comments about it.

heidbuttsupper · 06/04/2022 06:38

Late DH was 6'4, I'm 5' Smile

LadyPenelope68 · 06/04/2022 06:42

He’s 6’ 6”, not some weirdo. My DH is 6’ 4”, I’m 5’ 4” nothing weird about that. I’ve also DS19 is 6’ 5” and DS22 is 6’ 6” both with girlfriends much shorter than them, it’s a non issue.
My advice - don’t date him, leave him free and let him find someone nice instead, not someone as shallow as you.

WanderingTrolley1 · 06/04/2022 06:46

Yes, most definitely. I love tall men.

I was totally thinking this lol

I'm 6ft and my husband is 6ft7. He's gorgeous and the perfect height for me

Yes I think most men want a ‘spinner’ (millionaire matchmaker lingo) and tall men have the social capital to attract one. To me the height difference can look a bit creepy. I used to only like tall men but recently have a soft spot for the shorties. I’m totally average height.
Cocoaone · 06/04/2022 07:00

Good tall-man points

  • can reach things
  • probably has big hands Wink

Bad tall-man points

  • expensive shoes/flights etc
  • potential for very big babies, worrisome if you have slim hips Confused
Tiredacheyandreadyforbed · 06/04/2022 07:12

I'm 5 ft 6 and my partner of 18 months of 6 ft 6.
He is also of a big build, not skinny.
Honesty his height and size was a big attraction for me, he makes me feel safe. We still get stares sometime now, and shorter men say "how tall are you?"
Imagine asking someone how much they weigh.

GreyPaw · 06/04/2022 07:14

DP is 6'6" and very muscular. I'm 5'4" and fat. We don't got weird looks, or if we do I don't notice and don't care. I feel more embarrassed that I'm so much less fit than him. Luckily neither of us are shallow. We're both very happy. Go for it.

Silkierabbit · 06/04/2022 07:14

Depends on your ceiling height at home, if its under 6 foot 6, it could be an issue. Grin

Imsittinginthekitchensink · 06/04/2022 07:22

I seem to have lots of opinions on men today...
No from me. For various reasons, it would scare me and I would steer clear.

SarahBellam · 06/04/2022 07:32

Are you really so worried about what people would think about a height difference that you would consider not dating someone? Is he good, kind, funny, attractive? Do you have fun together? Do you trust him and feel comfortable with him? Does he treat people well? Does he have a good work ethic? These questions are far more important than whether he can reach the big pot without getting the stepladder. I couldn’t care less about a partner’s height. Their character is far more interesting to me.

catfunk · 06/04/2022 07:36

Yes I'd love it

KirstenBlest · 06/04/2022 07:41

Yes and I am shorter than you. I have dated someone taller

I would not date someone under 5'9" again because small men's shoes give me the ick

katienana · 06/04/2022 07:43

My dh is 6'4". Our sons are likely to be taller! I'm 5'6". The height difference is not an issue. Only when I'm buying him jumpers as the sleeves are never long enough.

Kdubs1981 · 06/04/2022 07:43

God yes! If I wasn't married 😉
I'm 5'5"

KELLOGSspeck · 06/04/2022 07:44

Yes. I briefly saw a guy that tall. To be honest I've known him years he's well built so I didn't notice the height as much and I'm 5ft 3

Kdubs1981 · 06/04/2022 07:46

This made me snort!
Starseeking · 06/04/2022 07:47

My EXDP was 6'4" and I am 5'7", so absolutely!

OnTheBenchOfDoom · 06/04/2022 07:50

Dh is 6'3" and built to play rugby and I am 5'5 and average, not dainty. The main things are compromising on things like furniture like sofas that have tall backs, beds, we have a 6'6" long super king bed and his feet hang off the end so you can never have foot boards on beds. Cars where their heads don't wedge against the roof usually if they have a sunroof, the ability to use the clutch without banging their knee on the steering wheel and how much room there is behind their seat when they put it far back so they can operate the pedals properly.

Been with Dh over 25 years considering all the major plus points of him, these are very small details indeed.
