Met someone from OLD.
He is ridiculously tall. He's also really big, think Anthony Joshua build.
I'm 5ft 4 and I honestly feel ridiculous standing next to him.
We both liked each other and want to see each other again.
I'm just worried about the looks and comments we may get...

Yes, my DH is super tall. But be aware that if things work out you’ll be compromising on furniture FOREVER. I long for a pretty sofa. I give our monstrous sofa the side eye every single day. And yes, going to the cinema or theatre becomes a one man monologue about leg room. But I love him really

RewildingAmbridge · 05/04/2022 22:19

DH is 6'4 but I think young people are getting taller (I realize this makes me sound like my gran, when I'm actually mid thirties), he used to be noticeably taller than most people, but we live near a sixth form and it feels like half of them are at least as tall as he is. It doesn't both me but I'm 5'9, we do stick out in my family who are all short though, I'm taller than even my dad and brother, so DH towers over them. My mum jokes with DS that he'll be taller than her by the time he's 7.
If you like him it wouldn't put me off

IceVolcanoes · 05/04/2022 22:19

If I liked someone and found them attractive, I wouldn’t care what height he was. I might not fancy sitting next to him on a plane though. 🤣

My husband is tiny. Shorter than me. I’m 5’5. I just don’t think height matters. I don’t want to sit next to him on a plane either though, because his shoulders are too wide.

mrstea301 · 05/04/2022 22:20

I'm 5'4 and my husband is 6'5, we don't get any comments at all to be honest. Apart from a coworker who was very jealous as I could wear whatever heels I wanted ( I spend the vast majority of my time in trainers for flat boots).

If you like each other, go for it!!

RewildingAmbridge · 05/04/2022 22:20

@YouHaveNoAuthorityHereJackie oh how I feel your pain!

underneaththeash · 05/04/2022 22:21

My husband is almost 6’6 and I’m 5’4.

I like tall men though. I’ve never had a boyfriend who’s shorter than 6’2.

WeAllLikeVindaloo · 05/04/2022 22:22

I’m 5’3” DP is 6’7”
I love it, I love him, he loves me. Never received any negative comments and it’s never an issue. Also as a PP said, “we’re all the same size in bed” Grin

Only time height has caused problems not with us but for him is when shorter (drunk) men decide to pick him out a crowd because they feel threatened for some reason. Absolutely ridiculous mind you.

Jenasaurus · 05/04/2022 22:24

This lady is 5ft and her DH is 6ft 7 and they are happy (although constantly asked about their sex life)

Libertaire · 05/04/2022 22:25

Yes. I’m 5’11 so the gap in height between me & someone who is 6’6 would only be the same as that between a 5’5 woman and a 6’0 man, ie completely normal. My actual DP is ‘only’ 6’2, so in heels I’m taller than him which doesn’t bother either of us.

ImInStealthMode · 05/04/2022 22:27

Absolutely. I think you're worrying too much about what other people think. Other people who? Strangers? Fuck 'em, who cares what strangers think?

A friend is just about 5'1 and her boyfriend is 6'7. Nobody's ever said a word; well apart from her Mum (!!) once pointing out that she wouldn't even have to kneel down BlushBlushGrin

Wheelz46 · 05/04/2022 22:27

Well I am 5'3 and my partner 6'4, I am petite build, he is not so petite. This is the first time, I have ever seen anything mentioned about height difference.

I don't understand the height concern 😕

ittakes2 · 05/04/2022 22:27

Very occasionally I see a very tall man with a petite woman. And I say in my head 'There's a very tall man with a petite woman'. And then I go about my life. I really think you are over thinking this.

Riverboatcaptain · 05/04/2022 22:31

5’6” plays 6’6”, petite vs rugby build - no issues, not had many weird looks or dodgy comments over the years. Anthony Joshua build? Yea please.

I was 5 4 and 8 stone. Dh was 6. 4 and 20 stone.
Never gave it a thought..
And he was 31 and I was 41!!

DramaAlpaca · 05/04/2022 22:37

Well, I'm 5'10 so I'd love a 6'6 man. I'd wear heels all the time I'd have to learn to walk in them But I met lovely DH who's 5'11 and he's perfect for me - and we've produced tall sons Grin

youkiddingme · 05/04/2022 22:38

I dated someone 6'6 for a couple of years. I'm 5'3.
Took me a while to get used to my DH's height, at 5'6.

galacticpixels · 05/04/2022 22:39

Yes, why not.

My friend's partner is 6'5. She's 5'6. People comment on his height regularly but never in relation to her height!

I mean, nobody would expect you to be anywhere near 6'6 so why would it be weird.

BOOTS52 · 05/04/2022 22:40

I spent all my 20's with a guy who was 6ft 4 and I am 5ft 4. I honestly love tall men and never even thought about the height difference. Anthony Joshua yum yum

AHungryCaterpillar · 05/04/2022 22:42

Yes I would be more attracted to them 😍

SpringHasSprungYay · 05/04/2022 22:42

@coatofmanycolors

Chances are he's hung like a horse too. Go for it OP
🤣🤣🤣🙌
Iloveyourbracelet · 05/04/2022 22:42

I'm 5ft 2 and dh 6ft 2. Never had any comments.

VeganGod · 05/04/2022 22:45

Probably not, but I’m not really attracted to really tall men. I wouldn’t want to have kids with someone who was really tall either. It’s just personal preference, if you like him, why not?

Moser85 · 05/04/2022 22:46

How is this a question?

6 ft 6 and built like Anthony Joshua!!

I'll have him if you don't want him Grin

Jk24 · 05/04/2022 22:50

What a ridiculous question. I'm 5ft 4 married to someone 6ft 5, together 10 years and never had a single comment. Why would anyone comment? Are you 14?
