Went in first date, unsure how it went really, seemed to get on had a nice time, we have had this convo since but not sure

Him: sorry I took you to a shithole, mortified 😱

Me: no problem, Least it gave us something to laugh about, it could of been worse 🤣

Him: Yeah maybe if we didn’t speak 😕

What does he mean by this last message maybe if we didn't speak ?

I would guess he's saying the only good thing about the evening was that you were talking to him.
Just bite the bullet and ask him if he wants to meet again? (But somewhere different)

Agree with pp. The only thing that made the date better was speaking to you.....so it could only have been worse if the pair of you didn't speak.

He's saying it could have been worse- it could have been a bad date but it wasn't, because you had lots to talk about

Agree with other posters. He saying it would be worse if you didn’t speak. I.e it wasn’t ‘worse’ because you did speak and got along!
