communication through the day

when you're still getting to know someone, do you expect some sort of contact during the day even on their busy days? if so, how frequently would you deem as normal? my past long term relationship was a very controlling one that required updates even when breathing, so I'm not a very good judge of this.

I wouldn't expect or want someone to be texting me in the day if at work, but it's nice to send a few texts each of an evening.

Depends on both of you really there are no rules. I would normally have a text exchange a day but not necessarily regularly thought the day

I think it’s nice to get a text at lunch time or a good morning text but it’s not a requirement. I think it’s really down to individuals, how much they text naturally and how busy they are in the day. If I sent my partner a text in the day and I didn’t get a reply I wouldn’t be worried or offended in any way, it probably wouldn’t register that they didn’t text back immediately tbh.

thanks for your responses, they all sound very healthy tbh. with ex I always had to give updates even when at work, and I dreaded messages so much that I'd keep my phone on silent. I'm currently getting to know someone who I actually enjoy speaking to, so I guess that is the difference right there Smile we both message throughout the day when at home (both WFH) but when he's out it can be like twice in the whole day. it's a good experience for me I guess because I don't need to be hovering around my phone waiting!
