received a screenshot from bf of something random.. in the top left status bar off the phone there was a notification which was green and said kik.. i know the answer to this question already but just need clarification. this clearly means the kik app is running on this fone and sending alerts doesnt it.. can there be any other reason for an alert on a phone in the top left status bar.. he saying he doesnt have app which is ridiculous..thanks in advance

I don't have kik but I only get notifications from the apps that i have downloaded. He's lying.

Did it have an arrow beside it? If so it was the last app he was on.

I deleted kik and had no sign off it thereafter

It means he has a message, that's what the message notification looks like.

i downloaded the app myself..wrote hi to a random profile. got a reply and the identical notification showed up in the same spot on my fone.. i knew anyway just had to be fully sure. thanks for your replies

Yes it’s a common app used for people cheating. It’s also how a friend discovered her partner had cheated.

I used this app to be able to message my son when he was too small to have his own telephone number but had one of my old phones, could it potentially be innocent?

@Banjjoo3 i hoped so but realistically if it was innocent why deny having the app at all..he tried to say it was an email he had about the app from years ago when he had it.its beyond shady hes defo lying

Did he take the screenshot, or is it a screenshot he was forwarded?? Ie, memes etc will just have the screen of the original not the latest phone it hit

That's definitely bullshit.

I had it for a while, deleted the app, but not my account.

I did have an email subsequently telling me there were messaged waiting for me, but it didn't show up as a notification. It would only do that if he still has the app installed.

Yup the notification only appears when app is downloaded and open and a new message has been received.

This is honestly what I was thinking?!! KIK was a popular app when I was in school in like 2011/2012😂 I'm surprised by the comments because I really didn't think people used it to hook up. It was just one of the lesser interesting social media sites like Bebo. Surprise it's even still around.

If he has an iphone tho it defo would have said Mail in the corner (if he really did get an email) and not Kik. So dumb to get caught out that way

In a lot of these predator exposed videos on social media often it transpires the predator has got KiK in order to chat with the kids..
