He took his wedding ring off

Bit of back story, married for 14 years, 2 DD 7 and 11. I have never known him to take his ring off, he has always been proud to wear his ring. He was out last night and came home quite drunk, not a big deal really as he doesn't go out often and works really hard.
Tonight whilst watching TV with DD, the eldest asked how much our wedding cost. I said looking at DH, well our rings were.... he then realised/remembered he didn't have his on!
I have always 100% trusted him. He says he "can't remember taking it off". AIBU by being absolutely gutted/shocked by this?

Keep an open mind, DH sometimes takes his off, though not on a night out.
There could be a simple explanation.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 12/03/2022 23:34

Is it possible he took it off to wash his hands and left it on the side of the sink rather than taking it off when he was out?

Motheranddaughtertotwo · 12/03/2022 23:37

Shocked and irritated slightly maybe but not gutted if you have no other issues. Hopefully it’ll come to him and he’ll remember. It could be something simple.

FuckIDunno · 12/03/2022 23:43

Did he definitely take it off last night on his night out? If so I’d be a bit wtf.

Otherwise I wouldn’t give it a second thought. DH takes his off all the time for various activities, and it’s never really fit him properly anyway and falls off on occasion.

I take mine off less but my fingers have been swelling lately and sometimes it hurts so I take it off.

Iooooooooiioooooiiiiiiiiiiiii

jo3009 · 12/03/2022 23:58

Yes definitely last night, he never otherwise takes it off, that's why it's such a big thing I suppose. 🥺

No, he's always been quite proud of the fact he never takes it off. 😑

Does he know where it is, or has he lost it? My dh has never taken his off his finger since I put it on there. I don't wear mine unless we go out as a bit tight.

Onthedunes · 13/03/2022 00:55

If he never takes it off and he definitely took it off last night to appear single then maybe ask him

Do you want to be single?

Where is it by the way.

Mooloolabababy · 13/03/2022 09:25

Does he have the ring now? Was it in his pocket or did he lose it? Would it be easy for him to take his ring off or would it need some effort? Could it have fallen off?

jo3009 · 13/03/2022 10:31

He had it in his pocket, this morning now he said he is sure he took it off at work when cutting wood, thanks for all your replies last night, feel a bit better this morning, maybe red wine didn't help 😏
