Internet divorce

Has anyone done an internet divorce?
I just want the whole thing done and dusted asap. Can't afford a solicitor.

Childcare arrangements have been in place for nearly 2 years now.
Finances are simple - each keep a pension and one party gets the house with mortgage.

Just go on the government website and do it. It's really simple

But I would recommend a solicitor to draw up the financial order.

Precisely what the PP said.

CornishGem1975 · 27/02/2022 14:26

Yes, we did it online on the .Gov website. Really quick and all done and dusted within 5 months. We did get a solicitor to draw up the consent order but we had also agreed all this between ourselves. No point spaffing money on solicitors needlessly.

thelonggame · 27/02/2022 15:58

yes, I did.
Really straight forward. As pp have said you need a solicitor to draw up the consent order, there's a lot on line that will do it for a fixed fee if you know what you want.

Just be aware that the court fee (of about £550?) has to be paid, so any 'online divorce' that looks really cheap is neglecting to tell you about that element.

CornishGem1975 · 27/02/2022 17:10

The fee of £550 is all you pay if you do it through the government site.

iloverock · 27/02/2022 17:29

Fee went up a while ago. It's now £593.

StStephensTower · 27/02/2022 17:47

We did, no solicitors involved and have kids. Agreed everything between ourselves, sold up and split house 50:50
