My boyfriend slipped into conversation the other day something odd.
He said to me ' I want to do a couple more things before become a dad, so I hope you don't mind waiting'
What does that mean? How should I take it?

I already have two of my own and he knows I want another when the time is right obviously.
How would anyone else read this?

Thanks. 😊

I’d just put it down to him not feeling completely ready yet. My dh was the same, he just needed a little bit more time, wasn’t that he wanted to see what else was out there or go and do anything in particular.
I’d just ask him, in a nice way, if there’s anything that he’s wanting to do?

It could mean a dozen different things. Think it's just ask him directly. If you can't have an in depth conversation about timing of embarking on being parents together I don't think you should.

In simple terms , he's not ready to be tied down with the responsibility of fatherhood and he's being honest about it

This. If you're asking strangers on MN rather than asking him about his feelings on a huge relationship issue, there's issues in the communication in the relationship.

What's stopped you asking him directly for clarification?

I would take it that before he becomes a dad there are a few things he would like to do first.
