little ideas for men?

I want to get something little for my partner as he accomplished a really good achievement at his work this week. I usually get him chocolate or sweets or cookies but he wants to eat less junk these days!

What would you get a male partner as a little surprise, or if they’re feeling down, or a little something to say well done?
I’d usually get food and am stumped.. With women it’s easier because you can get flowers!! What is a good male equivalent?!

I have no idea why I typed “little ideas” instead of gift ideas.. oops!

Why not order a nice takeaway and some wine for the two of you?
Or go out somewhere nice to eat?

MarchFourth · 07/02/2022 16:14

I thought it was a follow-on from the penis envy thread and was going to suggest a tiny knitted willy warmer, could still work..

Moonface123 · 07/02/2022 16:16

Just seen he wants to eat less junk, so what about new gym kit, or a nice pen, leather notebook, any books he enjoys reading, aftershave, or l don' t think you can go wrong with an Amazon giftcard.

Flyinggeese1234 · 07/02/2022 16:17

Celebratory dinner definitely.

Notsuchaniceguy · 07/02/2022 17:08

I am a man and I happen to like herring flowers. I can count on the fingers of one hand when someone has bought me some. However every time has been a delight. But I appreciate I may be in a minority on this one.

Nice wine works for me. And books. Clothes can work but then I'm a sucker for a metal band shirt.

Or a meal out? Or cinema or theatre trip that I haven't had to be the planner and organiser for. Or a gig? Something where the person can just be told, come on we're going out and all you have to do is relax and enjoy.

Notsuchaniceguy · 07/02/2022 17:10

Herring flowers are not a rare sub species of Lily BTW. I had planned to type getting...

Sonaftersonafterson · 07/02/2022 17:13

What about YOU as the gift? All wrapped up nicely for him, ready to massage. What man wouldn't love that?

WhoppingBigBackside · 07/02/2022 17:15

Get him a big bouquet of herring flowers

Simonjt · 07/02/2022 17:25

What sort of things does he like/interested in?

My husband quite likes flowers, so I often get him a bunch (just be careful if you have a cat), I like houseplants so sometimes he’ll get me one/something related to it.

I thought it looked a bit fishy.

(Sorry, couldn't resist it).

Eleganz · 07/02/2022 18:51

It depends what your relationship is like and what he is interested in really. A small gift related to his interest? A trip somewhere or to see something?

toksvig · 07/02/2022 19:00

Flowers

hangsangwitch · 07/02/2022 19:04

Why can’t you buy him flowers?

TheSmallAssassin · 07/02/2022 19:06

My husband likes clothes, so in the past I've given him a nice t-shirt. I've just bought him a little flask for going back to the office. Good, locally roasted coffee? A nice soap? A book would go down well with mine too, or a ticket to a gig or an exhibition or something.

ErrolTheDragon · 07/02/2022 19:06

Mine likes an occasional jasmine plant.

Opentooffers · 07/02/2022 20:17

@Notsuchaniceguy lol, I'm a girl, and I can count them on the fingers of one hand. Don't think couples tend to give flowers these days. But then, am I really bothered about flowers? I've given them for Illness, funerals, birthdays and leaving jobs, but never as a romantic jesture, and rarely received as such ( though have dated plenty in my lifetime).
Op, you know your fella best, so should be far better placed to know what he likes than a bunch of strangersConfused

aurynne · 07/02/2022 20:40

A smart watch? Every guy I know is obsessed with theirs... counting steps, checking their heart rate, recording their walks, monitoring their sleep...

You have made my evening!!!!
EilyAndStephen · 07/02/2022 20:52

I read it as “ideas for little men” too! Blush

A bouquet of fish would be perfect to mark the occasion. Grin

Danceswithwhippets · 07/02/2022 20:55

Man here.
I would also like herring flowers.

NetballHoop · 07/02/2022 20:58

Dh would like cheese, pistachios and chillis.

Just don't make the mistake of mixing any of them together. Pistachio cheese is rank (probably).

Leggingslife · 07/02/2022 20:59

Molton brown shower gel

Leggingslife · 07/02/2022 21:00

Or something to plant in the garden?

Ohyesiam · 07/02/2022 21:01

Men like flowers too
