The Little Things...

What are the little things your SO/bf/gf/dp/dh/dw does that always makes you smile?

Not necessarily grand gestures or expensive things. Just the little thing that makes you smile or feel appreciated?

Often this board is filled with posts about negative things going on in people's relationships, so thought a contrast showing the positives people experience would be nice...

From me, my BF makes me a cup of tea to have in bed/when getting ready for work and always takes my plate through to the kitchen. Both really small things which I hope he keeps doing long term as they always make me smile Grin

Mine is a musician and is currently on tour, he always makes sure I am a part of it and videos the theatre, the stage, the setting up and the sound check. He has just sent me a bunch of videos from where he is right now. He also brings me flowers and not on special occasions, takes both our plates out to the kitchen and washes them up. He leaves a love note if I go to work earlier than him so I have it when I get home. He makes my bed better than I do and lets me sleep on 'my' side even if I stay at his.....its these little things that make it for me xx

I like this idea! MN is often full of awful stories so for a bit of positivity, my DH…Makes me a cup of coffee in bed every single morning. When I can’t sleep he rubs this organic magnesium stuff he ordered off the internet for me on my feet at bedtime. Supports my desire to adopt eleven billion ancient rescue dogs and never moans about the cost/mess/work involved…Smile

Remember this is a relationships advice board so is going to be filled with negative stories as that’s what people tend to ask for advice on.

I thank my lucky stars that we have a marriage where we do little things for each other all the time just to make life easier or to make each other smile. These could be tiny, tiny things, like buying his favourite sandwich for lunch or making him a coffee while he's in the shower. He does similar, like spotting a new issue of a magazine I enjoy and buying it to making me endless cups of hot tea, or bringing glasses of water if he can see I've not drunk enough.

There are also super thoughtful things, like a romantic text because he's heard a song on the radio and it made him think of me.

The big thing I think is that we listen to each other and recognise the other's needs and if we can make life easier for the other then we'll always try, although if I'm honest, he does try a little more than me Smile because I can be a bit rubbish.

@RedCandyApple It wasn't meant as a criticism. I always took it as a discussion board as much as an advice board. Sometimes seeing other people's positives can remind you of the good things in your relationship even when things seems to be going to shit.

@Buildingthefuture love dogs. I work FT so can't really get a dog, not fair to them, but I do have a cat, who is such a pampered baby. Think if BF and him didn't get on that would be the end for me. Luckily they are good buds. And the cat is fussy Grin

@litterbird the notes are very sweet for you to find when you get home. Smile
