How to text a guy I like

Hello Everybody, I am new to this forum and this is my first thread. Basically, I work with a guy that I really like. I am unsure if he feels the same way about me.

I am way too shy to ask him out! If he says he is not interested it will be really awkward working together and I will be embarrassed so I am not chancing it.

Anyway I have two weeks off work now. And I was thinking of texting him out of the blue with the purpose of starting a conversation before asking him out.

However, I don't really know what to say? Whats a good excuse to text message him? I know another work colleague likes him too so with me being away work from work for two weeks I thought it be a good idea to have some kind of communication with him.

I like to hear your thoughts and advice

How about "Hello luv, how are you today"?

Do you follow each other on any social media platforms? This can be a less direct way of reaching out, commenting on an insta story or something like that is a good way to open a convo.

I've been seeing my ex colleague since November so I'm really hoping this works out for you!

Are you sure he likes you too?

I was sure mine did and then he text me drunk one night and here we are.

Aprilx · 29/01/2022 23:46

To be honest, if you have no indication that he likes you too, I would just leave it. As you say, this is a colleague and it could make things awkward.

Men normally make it pretty obvious if they like someone.

Chocaholic9 · 30/01/2022 00:27

Every time I've asked someone out it's backfired on me and they weren't interested. The men who've been interested in me have pursued me.

dopple · 30/01/2022 00:35

Don't do it. It's not worth the cringe afterwards. He will let you know if he's interested, all you have to do is be nice around him, compliment him in a subtle way, maybe not on looks but how he works or on character, if he thinks there's a chance with you and interested he'll do the asking.
I've had men ask me out at work before when I've been friendly, when it's not been my intentions for anything more, you'll just know or find out from other Colleagues who fancies you normally.

If he liked you he’d make it known. Please don’t text! look at the threads on here haven’t seen one successful one where the woman text first or text to chase up a next date.
You’ll get ‘it’s not the 1950s’ etc but that’s all fine when you’re in a relationship.
Approaching/early dates then he needs to make the first move, especially if he’s a work colleague, otherwise any rejection will be really tough for you
Aren’t there work drinks you can see him at and see if that sparks anything?

So as a guy.....

Some of us don't see the "too subtle" signals but if someone was to come into our lives that was bright and bubbly with some lightly flirty banter then that would make us take notice.

If you could get to know him a little better so he could do the pre-thought as to how he sees you, then that would be better.

Good luck.
